Hawaii Opera Theatre - Carmen

Hawaii Opera Theatre - Carmen at Neal S Blaisdell Concert Hall

Why see Hawaii Opera Theatre - Carmen?

150 Years Of Carmen

Marking 150 years since the premiere of George Bizet's magnificent Carmen, Hawaii Opera Theatre stages a thrilling production of the classic in the freshly refurbished Blaisdell Concert Hall! First premiered in Paris in 1875, the original has come to be regarded as one of the artform's greatest achievements. The ultimate tale of the femme fatale and how her ruthless behaviour leads those around her astray, Benjamin Makino conducts the on-stage orchestra and a stellar cast featuring the talents of Alice Chung as Carmen and Hawaii Opera Theatre debutant Won Whi Cho as Don Jose.

BEWARE THE ATTENTIONS OF CARMEN

Carmen is a provocative traveller woman, whose short temper brings her to the attention of the kind and charismatic Don Jose, who falls head over heels in love with her. An intense tale of love found and ruthlessly taken, Carmen is one of Opera's most intense and passionate pieces, as lust and revenge go hand in hand making for a fiery finale.
