Uninspired Jokes
Low effort. None of the clever audience interactions Schulz is so good at. His talent is connecting with all people and getting them to laugh at themselves. This time, he didn't connect at all with the audience, and told boring stories that were obvious fabrications (lubes, lotions, and creams are of course not usable during semen collection, and of course a nurse wouldn't have the ability to see you jerking off to make said collection). Nothing interesting, nothing original, nothing particularly funny. What he did offer was lame old white man jokes about being gay, horrendous openers, and an audience full of angry incels.
Beneath his high standard
I was at the Dec. 30, 2021 7:30 show. Mr. Shulz mailed it in. Maybe he’s a victim of his past high-level of performance, but the material was sub-par. Not much thought or effort went into it. It felt slapped together for a quick buck; cash in on his popularity. Mostly raunch jokes for raunch’s sake. I’m not offended by or against raunch humor, but his was barely funny, and mostly because of his seasoned emphasis and timing. In short, not his best work by a long shot. I felt cheated.
ENDED SHOW BY UNDERCUTTING HIS OWN MATERIAL
I took my 23 year old son to this show as we love connecting through live comedy. We've seen everyone from Jim Gaffigan to Chris Rock to Shane Gillis. We both came away from Andrew Schulz feeling that his show "LIFE" had the worst ending ever. After spending his entire act talking us through the triumphs and failures that he and his wife endured to have a chid and showing a lovely uplifting video of the birth of his daughter, he ends on a bit about "retards" (his words). As if that wasn't bad enough, he talks about the lives of people born into this world with challenges as basically having zero value due to the hospital "flushing those useless eggs down the toilet" because they knew that they would create a "retard." This is classic arrogance from a parent whose child is healthy with no physical or mental challenges. It's an absolute safe tower for him from which to feel empowered to make the case that "retrards" should not be born. And with that last bit he wiped out his entire act.
Infamous
The whole performance i laughed one time. Andrew was lazy and didn't seem to do any preparation. He went on and about getting his wife pregnant. It was boring. He basically phoned it in.
